Visit two famous temples in Fukuoka on an unforgettable small-group tour. Explore the uniqueness of Japanese temples, including their architecture, history, culture, and customs, while gaining a deeper understanding of Japanese Buddhism through interesting stories and insights from your local guide.
Starting at Nanzoin, you will walk along a scenic pathway where you can see significant temple structures and various types of Buddhist statues enshrined in buildings or displayed along the way. Learn about the meanings and differences of these structures and statues through your guide’s insightful commentary. At the end of the pathway, you will discover a massive bronze reclining Buddha statue with hundreds of smaller statues placed in front of it and enjoy a moment of tranquility.
After Nanzoin, you will move to your next destination, Nomiyama Kannonji, located in the mountains. Here, a temple with two separate areas awaits your exploration. Each area enshrines different deities and has its own unique folklore. You will hear fascinating stories about these deities from your guide. Beyond the temple itself, the surrounding mountain scenery is another highlight. At the end of the tour, take a moment to admire the peaceful and spiritual mountain views.
